A few new...

...Wedding bits.

I had a bit of a play over the weekend - The wedding card that I made last week now has a box, I had another go at doing a Jacob's Ladder and I made a mini-album.

I thought the Jacob's Ladder idea would make a cute little mini-album for my niece so she could put a few small versions of favourite photos from the day in something that was easily portable - and of course it had to have a little box to live in...

She was talking about doing a little album for her Grandma so I have adapted one of Annette West's (Voodoo Vixen on UKS) mini-album ideas.

It can stand up on its own if need be...

But there is plenty of space to put a good selection of pics and a few pockets to 'hide' some bits & pieces too...

I finished the Wedding card that Mum asked me to make but would you believe it...in my haste to get it over to her, I forgot to take a pic of it (rollseyes).

I'm sure there will be more Wedding related bits appearing over the next few weeks..............

I've got a new Avatar...

...on UKS - thanks to the very clever Julie.

She has added a signature to the piccie for me - I think it looks great....thank you so much Julie..........................

I hadn't realised...

...just how much I had missed Dawn's workshops.

Today was the first one for 2009 as she doesn't hold them during the winter months. The classroom is a large marquee and although it is heated it can't cope with really bad weather...today was bad enough with the driving rain and high winds - we thought we were going to take-off LOL

We made four cards today, each with something that 'moved'.

This pretty lavender slider card used cute Penny Black stamps, Whispers pens and a strip of carrier bag...

When Dawn said we would be making a Jacob's Ladder card in a box my heart sunk as I made a Jacob's Ladder at a fairly recent crop and I did not enjoy the experience - I must say, I was pleasantly surprised as Dawn's method was easy to follow and far more straight forward...

This lovely wedding card uses scented pearl papers, embossed mirrorboard, fabulous fabric on the front and glass beads strung inside - will probably adapt this to make a card for my niece's wedding...

Last, but not least - a penny slider card for a footie fan...

We had a super Roast Beef dinner at lunchtime with all the trimmings and this was followed by the most scrummy lemon cheesecake mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've had a super day - can't wait for April................

Sunday 22 March 2009

Be Afraid...

...be very afraid!

It is Sunday Morning and I've been tagged by the lovely (???)Julie (cheeky, more like).

The task to perform is to take a pic of yourself and post it on your blog - it has to be right now, no primping, grooming or general tittivating...just as you are at this very moment.

Oh well, if you are all ready (I suggest you keep children and folk of a delicate disposition away from the screen)...here we go...

This is me in Sunday Morning mode LOL - see Julie, this is what you have unleashed upon blogland CTM

Now I need to think of three folk I can share this favour with...

Caroline
Chrissy
Helen

Sorry folks...but you know this has to be done (he he he).............

Friday 20 March 2009

Ta - Da.!!!...

...all done.

I decided to make a box for the cards to go into - pearl card for the base and rose covered Kanban card for the lid.

The stencil design still shows even though there is a vellum wrap.

Inked paper inserts.

...and all held together by a burgandy ribbon.

So, all done (sigh of relief) now my niece just needs to write and despatch them all.............

Production line...

...there seemed to be loads LOL

If you drop by here from time to time you will know that my niece got engaged on Valentine's Day.

Shortly after I got a phone call asking "how easy would it be to make wedding invites?" So 'Aunty Toni' was duly recruited to produce the required items...

Card, vellum and envelopes were sorted straight away but then we had the wait whilst the reception venue was confirmed so that the inserts could be printed.

Although not a huge number of cards required, the silver ink used to stencil the design and edge the inserts needed to be completely dry before assembly could take place.

The lounge floor was the only space available to lay everything out whilst drying.

Inking all the insert edges seemed to take for ever...and did I mention that I don't like stencilling LOL well I certainly don't now...

Finally all done and just drying off.......................

Someone pass the napkins...

...oh, and don't forget the Mod Podge LOL.

The March crop at Artbase was a version of their super cybercrop class "In the Frame"

Instead of covering the frame with PP or CS we covered it with a single layer from a patterned napkin and sealed it with glittery Mod Podge.

I love this colour combination...the blues were perfect for some pics of Turkey and I added the sand colour to provide an accent.

We did a second piece too but I haven't added the photos yet - promise to post when it's all done.

Another super day..................

Red Nose Day...

...2009.

Credit crunch, or not...I am proud to say we raised £200 for RND - and managed to have a bit of fun too.........................

Saturday 7 March 2009

Next Friday is...

...RED NOSE DAY!!!

We are having a number of fund raising events at work throughout the week and on Thursday we will be having our "Red" tombola...

Colleagues have been asked to donate something 'red' - whether it be red in colour, packageing, or name...we've had Red wine, tinned tomatoes, various types of sweets in red packaging; to name just a few. We have even had someone donate a box of Ready Brek (get it?...Red-e-brek...don't groan too loudly LOL)

I've just made a little maze book to add to the collection...

Just a quick little book made from a sheet of A4 red card, two pieces of chipboard and covered with some K&Co floral PP. Hope the person who wins it enjoys it.........

Those Ladybugs sure do multiply...

...there's a whole swarm of them over on my dashboard where all my 'watched' blogs appear LOL

It's nice to share a smile or two with folk.............

A new award...

...from the very talented Willow (Maz). Thank you so much.

You really must pay her blog a visit cos the stuff she makes as gifts for friends & family is just fabulous.

Isn't this just the cutest little Ladybug.

It seems I now have to share this with 10 other folk...and let them know that I'm sharing LOL...there are so many fab blogs that I visit, and to pick just 10, oh dear...well here goes...........

Ruthy - just had to be on the list as she gave me my very first award...and of course, she is rather fond of Ladybugs LOL.

Hysteri-cal - lovely lady, helpful and supportive and produces some wonderful stuff which can be seen on her blog and in the galleries on UKS.

Paula - always there with a lovely comment and so encouraging.

Eleni - I love to see all the wonderful stuff she produces...when she is on a roll it can be quite exhausting seeing all the fab stuff she has created.

Julie - is new to blogging and it is great to see how she has already managed to decorate her space. Keep going Julie...

Leigh - Leigh has some lovely LOs on her blog. She is also normally around for a friendly chat over on UKS.

Leanie - showed off her talent for photo manipulation during the recent cybercrop. A very clever lady.

Rebekah - a very friendly lady who I was lucky enough to meet via a cybercrop on UKS.

Annette - is the lady who got me hooked on minibooks...I just love her work.

Caroline - I am lucky enough to see much of Caroline's work in real life as she works in my favourite craft store...Artbase...it has been great to see how her style has developed over the last couple of years.

Well that's my 10. I hope you enjoying looking at their work too.............
