...is not very well.
I've been having a few problems and today it was pretty obvious that all was not right.
For some reason I am getting a lot of glare and 'white-out' areas so whilst I decide what I'm going to do (repair/bin/other) I decided to get a new one.
Now before you all start wondering what super-duper snapper I went for, let me remind you that it is me we are talking about - Mrs Took Loads of Months to work out how to put pics on a blog **rolls-eyes** - Mrs Can Just about Point & Shoot a camera LOL - Mrs Very Techy Challenged - do I need to say more...
So no, it is not one of those very expensive...need a degree in technology to operate ones. It is a nice little compact Samsung 16 megapixel, 10x optical zoom, bright red little happy snappy.
As it is the same make and very similar to my original camera I'm hoping it wont take too long to get to grips with it - I just wish they wouldn't keep messing about changing the style of baterries and memory cards - but that is another story - off to have a play.......................

I've been bad...
...well what did you expect - THEY HAD PENS - LOL
You might have noticed that I kinda skirted around the fact that we spent a fair bit of time at In2Crafting yesterday...okay, I told you Mum bought lots of jewellery bits and that there was a DoCrafts demo...I might even have mentioned that there was double points for card holders **kinda looks sheepish**
Ummm, well, these sort of jumped into my basket...
...a Spectrum Noir 24 pen set of Brights - how naughty am I?
Still, it shouldn't come as a surprise because you should know by now that I have a bit of a thing about pens and I hadn't tried these ones yet **giggle** - Okay, I know...any excuse LOL
Anyhoo...
I've had a bit of a play. Obviously I'm a bit limited by the colour selection but as they are alcohol based pens they mix nicely with my Copics
If you are wondering about the image, she is called "Fancy" and is a freebie from the lovely Krista over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog. Why not pop over there and take a look.
The current challenge over at the Saturated Canary is "Bling it" so I need to sort out some suitable bling for this little miss. I'll let you see what I come up with.................................

It's about time for...
...some "Follower" candy - don't you think?
***This post will stay at the top until the draw - for newer posts, please scroll down***
I have been lucky enough to have 4 new followers come and join my little bit of cyberspace recently - Welcome folks!
As a way to say 'thank you' to the lovely folk out there who follow my ramblings, I decided it was time to give away some Candy.
With us entering July (gosh, where has this year gone?) and the shopping channels starting on their Christmas promotions, the weather is doing its normal about turn and returning to the grotty, wet, windy conditions that we have come to expect over Wimbledon fortnight. So keeping all this in mind I decided a Christmas/Winter Candy would be appropriate...

DoCrafts have some Urban stamps in their new Christmas promotion so I am offering one of those and keeping with the Christmas/Winter theme there will also be a 'Christmas' red ruffle scarf.
There is no 'Linky thingie' as you are all aware of how technically challenged I am LOL. So to enter you need to leave a comment. This candy is being offered to my followers as a thank you for your support - it doesn't stop new followers joining in - the more the merrier.
The closing date is Sunday 8 July and a winner will be picked from the hat at 8pm BST....................................................

Love it or...
...hate it - the UK is in the grips of Olympic fever.
The papers are full of it and even the adverts on the TV are cashing in.
I'm sure many of you have seen the ad for British Airways which is set to the song "London Calling" by the Clash. Very clever how they have made a jet airliner appear to taxi through the London streets.
However, even more clever is this link that was sent to me by email - by clicking on this London Calling link you are taken to a screen where you enter your postcode (only works with the UK postcodes - but you might have a friend here so could try theirs...). Make sure you have the sound on if you want to listen to The Clash but if not it still works in silence. Watch carefully...
...the ad will play but at some point during the process you will be taken down your street.
I've tried it with my postcode, my Mum's and some friends and although I didn't get to see the houses where we live, it was clear that I was going down those roads.
I tried my work postcode and not only did I see my office but also got to see the building site next door LOL
Just a bit of fun but go on - have a play..................................

"Have you heard...
...what's top of the paperback best-seller list?"
That was the question I was asked by a male colleague on the train home one evening.
My response was "Do you mean the 'smutty' one that everyone is talking about?"
"No" he said "It's the one about Allotments in Thurrock."
"What"
"You know....50 Sheds in Grays"
Yep folks, you are allowed to groan - I certainly did.
The only comment I can make is that at least a few more folk will actually know that Thurrock and Grays exist because it has been part of the route for the Olympic torch relay...
However, on the subject of those 'smutty' books...
...whoever did the PR for them seems to have done a pretty amazing job - there is hardly a person who hasn't heard about this trilogy (even my Mum **giggle** - not sure how they would come across on audio books). I hadn't heard of them until just over a week ago but that is probably because I haven't done much 'fiction' reading of late. I probably will read them at some point, just to see what all the 'hype' has been about.
Another week has flown by and the WRYWF has rolled around again. If you are not sure what this is, it is a lovely little band of folk who gather over at Virginia's blog to share the positives from their week.
At a time when there is so much pressure on everyone due to financial restraints it can be easy to lose sight of the good stuff that happens in life.
So how has my week been?
I've already posted about the fabulous class I attended on 30 June - a super day of inky messiness (I know - for someone who doesn't like getting messy I only seem to attend messy workshops LOL). I hope the weather is better for Andy in the Canary Islands cos he has certainly left us with some grotty stuff **chuckle**
Mum's eye is slowly improving, although it is still not good enough for her to do her jewellery making. However, she has found that she can manage her Japanese braiding and now has a box full of assorted coloured lengths ready for making into pendants & bracelets when she can see more clearly (her next check-up is on the 23rd so not too long to wait).
I travelled all the way up to Ipswich for a work meeting (2.5hrs each way) on Monday - certainly not a postitive but I did get to meet a couple of folk from our team that hadn't managed to attend the last meeting. I also got agreement for the next 'face2face' meeting to be held at my office - result!!!
Not much in the way of crafting this week. It was Thursday night crop and apart from stroking the new set of papers that we have for the new 4-week session it was certainly a chat night. Helen's shop has a lovely calming atmosphere - you walk through the door to be greeted by the lovely scent of the Yankee Candles displays and the beautifully lit crystals stand. It's a great place to un-wind if the week has been busy/hectic/stressful.
Copic Markers Europe have been celebrating their first birthday and I was lucky enough to win some candy - two Magnolia Doohicky dies - these are my first 'doohickies' so I will enjoy having a play. It was certainly lovely coming home on Friday to this super little package.
Saturday was basically Mum's day - we had a wander to various places that she fancied visiting. A stop off at Wickford enabled her to stock-up with jewellery findings at In2crafting (they had a DoCraft demo day and double points for card-holders, which I took advantage of). This then meant she had to buy more storage boxes at the little hardware store there. We decided to try a pub that we have passed a number of times for lunch. It was fabulous - lovely atmosphere and great food...I think we'll be going again. A quick stop a Barleylands and Mum stocked up on cotten yarn for her braiding and then off to Helen's where she bought a few more crystals, Although tired, Mum said she had a lovely day and we had been very lucky with the weather - all the downpours seemed to arrive whilst we were inside somewhere or other.
Well it's now Sunday and in case you hadn't noticed I am having a "Follower Candy" giveaway. If you are looking at this post before 7.30pm (BST) on Sunday 8 July you still have a chance to go in the hat - if you are a follower just leave a comment on the candy post...................................

How did you...
...spend your weekend?
If like me, you work full-time in the non-crafting world it can often be difficult to fit in the time to do some crafting whilst at the same time going to work and dealing with 'life' in general. I have to say that the last two weekends have been great as I was able to spend time watching some fab demos (Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers - and - Making the most out of punches and dies). This weekend was even better though...it was one of Andy's "Tim Holtz style" days so I got to spend the day playing with distress inks/stains and alcohol inks. It was a day of the usual wonderful inky messiness.
We arrived to find some bare grayboard/chipboard on the tables - some quite large scalloped rectangles and some smaller plain rectangles.
What we managed to create from this board was a pretty decorated box.
(Sorry about the slightly fuzzy pics).
The lid and outside of the box was covered in glossy CS that had been coloured using Adirondack alcohol inks in Cranberry and Cool Peri. The inks were dripped onto a craft mat and then sprinkled with blending solution - or as it became known "Vinegar" (it was just like sprinkling vinegar on your chips LOL).
The inside of the box was lined with matt CS which was coloured with Ranger Distress Inks in Milled Lavender and Picked Raspberry (from the "Summer" limited edition stack).
As an aside; two of the colours in this stack caused a lot of discussion...someone accidentally called it 'Pickled' raspberry and it stuck LOL, we were all calling it that when it was mentioned...the other colour which caused a lot of debate was "Mowed Grass" - numbers were split over whether it was correct or whether it should have been 'Mown' grass. I think we came to the conclusion that it would have been easier to call it 'Cut grass' LOL.
In addition to creating the box and covering it we also got to play with the new embossing folders from DoCraft that form part of the new promotion. For such reasonably priced folders (Embossing; £2.99 - Tri-bossing; £3.99) the images are lovely and produce super results.
You can see an embossed panel on the top of the box. Using silver miri-card this was run through the BigShot using one of the 'Strictly Christmas' designs. I then dabbed alcohol ink around the edge (Cranberry & Midnight purple) - I will be attaching it to the lid of the box but at the moment I can't make up my mind what ribbon to use under the panel...I'll have to remember to let you see the final result when I've sorted out some embellies.
It was a fabulous day and as always, because folk could pick their own colour combos, the end results were very different.
Thank you Andy for a lovely day of crafting - I hope you have a super holiday (you deserve it) and come back refreshed and bursting with lots of ideas for more classes...........................................
