...we've had a real mixed bag of weather here.
It hasn't been cold but we've had fine showers off and on for most of the day.
I went over to Mum's to take her shopping and I would swear that these chives have multiplied since last week...
...they are by the front gate post on Mum's driveway...
...although they weren't planted there by her she hasn't pulled them up because the flowers are so pretty and they attract the honey bees. They also remind us both of Dad as he loved to eat chives and onions. The tiny pink flowers with them are hardy geraniums which seem to have gone mad this year but look really lovely in the way they tumble over the edge of Mum's raised beds.
Mum was always the gardener in our family although these days she limits her garden to things that pretty much look after themselves and come up year after year. Dad could never tell a flower from a weed and this lovely bloom would have totally confused him...
...it is a paeony rose (peony) and has the most wonderful scent...
I snapped these pics between showers...
...and you can see the raindrops on the leaves.
Dad would never have considered this to be a 'rose' in any shape or form - his idea of a rose was the typical climber or bush rose and was probably the only flower that he was ever able to be confident in recognising. Over the years he did most of the donkey work in the garden under Mum's direction but would never have considered himself a gardener.
Mum's front garden looked very pretty today with all the shades of pink nestling against the green and I'm sure it was all thanks to a certain Angel - thank you Dad..................................................

what stunning pictures. my gramma had the greenest thumb, heck her hands were green, and could grow the biggest veggies and flowers. i LOVE chives ... and onions .... and flowers tho i DO NOT have any kind of green thumb.
feels like summer finally arrived here. i'll be happy to send it your way!
hugs :)
Hugs sweetie - not always the easiest of days but the flowers are a great reminder
I think of my dad too when I look at my roses :) he'd prune them for me as I never got it right, and I wonder if he's still dong that for me, from up above as so far they're doing alright xxx
My Grandad was the rose man... had a front garden full of them, and I think of him every time I see a nice display of roses, funny how things remind you, isn't it?
In reply to the matches... honestly, I end up throwing them away... I keep them for the longest time but you can't use them without the box so end up putting them in the bin! LOL I swear it would be cheaper for me to buy the die cut for making matchboxes!!
Oh I need your address... you are such a loyal commentor on my blog, have been for years and I wanted to make you something as a thank you. I'm not saying what and I am not saying when... it will turn up as a surprise in the next few weeks!!
Can you email me? I'll leave another comment with my email addy and you can delete that one... thanks!
