...apart from the knitting; that is.
I have just returned from two days in Cambridge - for work.
All my staff were telling me to have a "lovely time boating" because Cambridge is famous for its punts...
...but I certainly didn't get anywhere near seeing or doing any of the above.
Apart from the outside and inside of our Cambridge office, this is what I got to see...
...the Travelodge where I stayed for a night.
There are a number of Travelodges in and around Cambridge but this was the closest to the office (15min walk). It is located on the Leisure park - if you look to the left of the TL, the building you see runs parallel with the TL on the other side of the square that separates the two. That building houses a bowling alley and just about every type of restaurant you can think of...Nando's, Frankie & Bennie's, Bella Italia, Subway, chinese, burger bars - all sorts...and at the end of the square there was a Sainsbury Express and a Tesco Express...gosh the excitement was...so underwhelming!
Oh how the other half live - I can tell, you are all sooooooooooo jealous; NOT!!! LOL
The TL was nothing special but it was clean and the self-service breakfast catered for everyone's tastes.
Although the leisure park doesn't get noisy (my room was on the 2nd floor - facing the square) the square does light up after dark like the Blackpool illuminations...guess what...my curtains didn't close properly so I had the joy of the neon lights...
Now looking at the photo of the TL you probably wouldn't guess that this building is famous - no, honestly, it is. Someone famous stayed there? - No! Some terrible incident took place there? - No!
Tell, tell, tell...I can hear you urging.
This building made it onto the list of most popular buildings that folk wanted to see demolished - now there's a surprise **giggle**
Gosh, don't I get to see some excitement in my working life.........................................................

traveling for business can SOMETIMES (key word here) be exciting. sad you didn't get to enjoy the "punts". but all those restaurants nearby sound interesting and i would have tried many of them (as none sound familiar to me).
:)
Just brilliant.
nothing like neon ,lights to keep you awake !
Allisonx
