Things that really...

...wind me up.

There are numerous things that I see on a daily basis that make me wonder how the human race has managed to survive this long.

Some people behave in the most stupid of ways and also have no consideration for others.

Now before anyone says I am a cyclist hater, let me state that I have a bike and over the years have enjoyed going for a ride (especially when we used to go caravanning) and can say that I have found some lovely quite country locations that I probably would never have come across in a car...
...but when I see adults on bikes almost running folk over because they are on the pavement (not a designated cycle path) or riding the wrong way along a cycle lane - it does make me wonder where these folk have left their brains. The road that I use on a Saturday morning is a favourite with road cycling clubs and most are clearly visible to the other road users but there is one guy who wears all black from head to foot and has no lights or reflective areas on him or his bike - a major hazard on dull misty mornings on narrow winding country lanes.

Talking of lack of lights...

Why don't drivers turn their lights on when it is foggy or visibility is low due to dark skies and rain?

Are they really that stupid to think that as long as they can see where they are going it doesn't matter?

Haven't they sussed out that it is to make them visible to others!!!

Then we come to mobile phones...

We seem to live in an age where there are a whole section of society who obviously think the world would come to an end if their phone wasn't glued to their hand or ear 24/7. Believe it or not, humankind managed perfectly well before mobile phones.

During personal safety training delivered by the Police, they advised that phones should not be carried around in your hand as they draw attention to the fact that you have one and they make you an easy target for a snatch. You are also not paying full attention to what is going on around you if you are wandering around chatting on your phone and this makes you an easy target for a mugging.

There is nothing more annoying than someone getting into the Quite Zone of a commuter train (that is quite clearly signed as an area where phones are not to be used) and that inconsiderate idiot maintaining a totally inane conversation that the whole carriage can hear...
...or worse still, the idiot is talking to their bank/credit card company and giving personal details that the world and his wife could note down if so inclined - these are the sort of idiots who would then moan if their accounts were accessed or their identities were stolen.

There is nothing more rude than someone being served in a shop who continues to chat on their phone.

But worse still are the parents that feel their phone conversations are more important than their children. I have seen these idiots walk out into the road pushing a buggy and paying no attention to anything other than their phone or wandering along a busy street paying no attention to their tot who has run off into the crowd.

London stations are extremely busy and crowded during the rush-hour periods and yet you will get an idiot on the stairs just stop all of a sudden so that they can check a call/text - nothing is that urgent that it can't wait until you have reached the end of the staircase and you can move out of the flow of passengers.

Stupidity seems to be on the increase...

Common sense tells you that petrol and flames are not a good mix so what on earth was the guy thinking who noticed a spider in the petrol flap whilst he was filling up and he decided to use his lighter to kill it - one fire & explosion later and the guy had one written-off car and was lucky he didn't set the whole petrol station alight.

Comedians jokingly refer to this sort of behaviour as "Natural selection" but in all honesty...I do wonder how we have managed to survive this long..............................................................

People talking on their phones whilst being served in a shop is my BIGGEST problem. I want to go up grab their phone and tell them how rude it is. And don't get me started on cyclists!!!
