...oh, and a couple more hugs.
I think I can say that I've now got the two patterns sussed. I tried a couple of variations for the mug hug but I keep coming back to this design and having done a few I can now knit this from memory.
The pot hug that I did in the spring colours was based on a pattern that I found in a cosy book. I wanted something with squares and this was it - I was very pleased with the finished set.
But...................!!!
You know when you look at something and the more you look the more it doesn't seem quite right...well that was how I felt. So starting with the same number of stitches as the cosy pattern stated - I started to play. I decided to knit the exact pattern used on the mug hug (with a slight adjustment for the number of stitches) - Eurika!! (not sure that is spelt correctly LOL). Now I had a pot hug looking how I wanted.
A few white satin ribbons and a scattering of white buttons and all was done..........................
