T'was the night before Christmas...

...a post I forgot.
I think you will like it
A "Hug" it is not...

In all the rush and kerfuffle pre-Christmas I forgot to post about a two-part class that I attended at the end of November.

Pauline (Andy's Mum - Pinnacle crafts) had come up with an idea for a lesson using a set of clear stamps that show snippets of "T'was the Night before Christmas" - a poem that I love and whilst I can't remember the whole of it I think I am like many folk...I remember bits.
Pauline explained the construction of the minibook as there were a number of ladies who hadn't done that sort of thing but on the whole we were allowed to do our own thing and everyones books were very different.
I decided that I was going to stick with the poem images on the right hand pages and when I get around to it there will be photos on left.
Because there was so much work involved on this project it was split between two 1.5hr sessions.
At the end of the first session we were advised that we might want to take the poem images home so that they could be coloured ready for 'part 2'.
The images were stamped onto glossy card which presented a problem when I started to colour them in with my Copics & Promarkers. I found it very hard to get the colours to blend (I had only ever used glossy card for brayering, previously).
I stuck with it and was eventually pleased with the resulting finish of the coloured images which I then highlighted with some stickles.
Because the poem brings to mind an 'old fashioned' Christmas I didn't want the colours in my book to be too bright - so I tried to keep things a bit muted.
For the left-hand pages I stuck to panels cut using a variety of Nesties - glitter card, PP, CS - and embellished with a few blooms, brads and gems.
I was so pleased with the way the project came out and was more than happy to add my name to the back of it (oops, bit of a shaky photo - well, what's new LOL).

I had a copy of a lovely book containing this poem but over the years it has been misplaced (probably in the loft somewhere) so now I have my very own version to keep and treasure.............................
